I’ll admit up front that Saddam Hussein is not a nice guy — never mind that he was once our buddy. But it’s pretty clear now that the administration’s decision to go to war with Iraq was based on intelligence it knew was distorted — or it knowingly distorted. There was no connection between Iraq and the terrorists that struck the US on 9/11. Saddam might have fantasized about weapons of mass destruction, but he had none. Sure he was evil and inhuman, but there are a lot of evil, inhuman despots running countries.
So the war with Iraq was contrived, and it’s no longer a secret. Which makes me wonder — does anyone who lost a son or daughter in that war think the administration is guilty of something bad?
